Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q1: Does the PawGuard™ F820 require any installation or digging?
No. The PawGuard™ F820 Wireless Dog Fence requires no wiring, digging, or complex installation. After receiving the device, fully charge the collar, set your desired boundary range and correction mode, and begin training your dog. Once your dog becomes familiar with the boundary, the collar can operate independently. Charging requires the included magnetic charging cable and a 5V/1A charger. A full charge takes approximately 2–3 hours, and the green indicator light will remain on when charging is complete. The system supports a circular boundary with an adjustable range of approximately 23–914 metres. For first-time use, it is recommended to start with a boundary of around 50 yards. The default correction mode is Automatic with Static Level 1, while vibration and static correction levels can be adjusted from 1–5 using the control buttons. For best results, dogs should complete a structured training programme to learn that the boundary warning signals indicate the safe limit. Training is typically carried out over 1–2 weeks, beginning with low-intensity warnings and gradually progressing as your dog becomes familiar with the boundary. The F820 also features automatic centre-point memory, eliminating the need to repeatedly set the origin point. The collar is rated IPX7 waterproof, making it suitable for rain and everyday outdoor use.
Q2: Can I adjust the size of the circular boundary?
Yes. The PawGuard™ F820 allows you to freely configure a circular GPS boundary radius from approximately 23 to 914 meters, fully adjustable via the buttons in the collar . Whether you're securing a compact urban garden in Dublin, a rural acreage in County Clare, or a sprawling estate near Galway Bay — the F820 scales precisely to your space, with no physical wires or installation constraints.
Q3: Will the F820 work if my property is not circular in shape?
The PawGuard™ F820 creates a circular boundary, which works well for square or roughly circular gardens. If your property is long, narrow, or L-shaped, the circular boundary may not perfectly match your perimeter. In such cases, PawGuard™ recommends considering the F600 In-Ground System or the 860 GPS Fence with App, which allows custom boundary shapes.
Q4: What happens if my dog crosses the boundary during play?
When your dog crosses the boundary, the F820 activates its correction zone mechanism and applies the selected warning or correction, such as a beep, vibration, or static correction, to help discourage out-of-bounds behaviour. This function operates only when the GPS signal strength is at least 3 bars and the device detects movement. If your dog is stationary outside the boundary, the collar will display a red indicator light but will not trigger an alarm. The device screen will automatically light up to alert the owner when the dog crosses the boundary, although the screen being off does not affect the normal operation of the fence system. Please note that GPS technology has an accuracy variance of approximately 3–5 yards and may be affected by signal obstruction or environmental interference. As a result, positioning and response timing may vary slightly under certain conditions.
Q5: Can I take the F820 with me when I travel around Ireland?
Yes! The PawGuard™ F820 is fully portable. Simply unplug the transmitter, pack it in your bag, and set it up at your destination whether it's a holiday cottage in Kerry, a family home in Donegal, or a campsite in Connemara. This portability makes the F820 a top choice for dog owners who travel regularly within Ireland and Europe.
Q6: Is the F820 safe for my children to be around?
No. The F820 should not be worn, handled, or played with by children. To prevent accidental activation or unintended stimulation, we recommend storing the device in a safe place out of the reach of children when it is not being used.
Q7: Can I use the F820 with multiple dogs?
One F820 GPS dog fence collar only support one dog , multiple dogs could buy multiple collars , no transmitter , each collar work independently with seperate boundary .
Q8: Will interference from neighbouring properties or Wi-Fi affect the F820?
The PawGuard F820 is not radio frequency , it’s GPS satellite position that is separate from WI-FI , Bluetooth, and other household signals. Occasional interference can occur in very densely built-up urban areas of Dublin or Cork City, but this is rare. The system is CE-certified and meets all EU electromagnetic compatibility requirements.
Q9: How long does it take to train my dog to the F820 boundary?
Most dogs can be reliably trained to the PawGuard™ F820 boundary within 2 weeks using the step-by-step training programme included with the product. Consistent short training sessions of 10–15 minutes daily are recommended. Irish dog owners typically report their dogs respecting the boundary independently within 10–14 days.
