Description

In-ground dog fence that creates a fully customisable boundary using a buried perimeter wire and a lightweight, IPX7 waterproof receiver collar.

The PawGuard F600 is a professional-grade underground containment system that lets your dog roam safely within a boundary you define — without physical fencing. Lay the boundary wire around your chosen perimeter (gardens, driveways, flower beds or whole properties) and connect it to the transmitter.

Your dog wears the lightweight IPX7 waterproof receiver collar, which gives a warning tone followed by a mild static correction if they approach or cross the boundary. Adjustable correction levels let you set the right response for your dog's size and sensitivity, and the system is multi-dog compatible.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1: How deep does the wire need to be buried for the PawGuard™ F600?

Before actual cable laying, the route must be planned and the system tested to ensure proper operation. The trench depth should be 1–3 inches (approximately 2.5–7.6 cm). After installation, the cable should be laid with sufficient slack to accommodate temperature-related expansion and contraction, helping prevent damage over time. Boundary lines may also be secured along the base of existing fences or walls, or temporarily placed on the ground during the initial training phase. This installation method supports single- and double-loop configurations integrated with existing fencing and provides flexibility while your dog is learning the boundary area. The dense, moisture-retentive clay soil commonly found in Leinster, Ireland, does not generally present issues for shallow cable burial. However, installation should be avoided when the ground is excessively wet after rainfall, as heavy soil pressure may damage the cable insulation. When placing the cable, use a blunt tool to guide it into the trench and take care not to scratch or puncture the insulation layer.

Q2: Can the F600 cover my entire farm or large rural property?

The standard F600 kit includes 150 metres of 20-gauge boundary wire. Additional wire (available at pawguard.ie) can be added to extend the coverage area for larger farms, estates, or rural Irish properties spanning several acres. Please refer to the coverage chart below for guidance on the relationship between boundary wire length and containment area.

Q3: Is the collar waterproof? My dog loves swimming in rivers and lakes.

Yes. The PawGuard™ F600 receiver collar is rated IPX7 waterproof, meaning it can withstand full submersion in up to 1 metre of water for 30 minutes. This makes it fully suitable for Irish water-loving breeds such as Irish Water Spaniels, Labradors, and Golden Retrievers who enjoy rivers, lakes, and coastal areas.

Q4: Will the system work if the wire is cut or damaged?

If the F600 boundary wire is cut or damaged, the system will stop functioning correctly. The transmitter's LOOP indicator will turn red and emit an audible alert, signalling a boundary line fault. This usually indicates a broken cable or an insufficient wire length (the system requires a minimum of 30 metres of boundary wire). In either case, the boundary line should be inspected and repaired before use. For the system to operate properly, the boundary wire must form a complete closed loop. If the circuit is broken, the transmitter cannot send a continuous boundary signal, and the receiver collar will be unable to detect the containment area. As a result, correction warnings will not be triggered when your dog crosses the boundary.

Q5: How do I train my dog to understand the F600 boundary?

PawGuard™ recommends a structured 2-week training programme. Begin with your dog on a lead, walking them around the boundary flags (included) so they learn the warning zone. Allow the collar to beep and vibrate without static correction initially. Gradually introduce correction and reduce lead supervision. Full written training guidelines are included with every PawGuard™ F600 kit.

Q6: Can I use one transmitter for multiple dogs?

Yes. The PawGuard™ F600 transmitter supports unlimited dogs on the same boundary you simply purchase additional receiver collars (available at pawguard.ie). Each collar is programmed to the same wire signal. This makes the F600 ideal for multi-dog households across Ireland.

Q7: What happens if there is a power outage?

The PawGuard™ F600 transmitter requires mains electricity to operate. In the event of a power outage, the boundary signal will be inactive. It is recommended to have alternative containment in place (a physical lead or supervised access) during power disruptions, particularly in rural Irish areas where outages may be more frequent.

Q8: Will the F600 interfere with other electronic devices in my home?

No. The PawGuard™ F600 operates on a low-frequency signal specifically designed to avoid interference with household electronics, Wi-Fi routers, or other devices. It is CE-certified and compliant with all EU electromagnetic compatibility standards applicable in Ireland.

Q9: Is the F600 suitable for use on properties with walls or existing hedging?

Yes. The boundary wire can be routed along the base of walls, through hedging, or over driveways using the supplied stakes and clips. Many Irish properties with traditional stone walls or hedgerows along boundaries find the F600 ideal for sealing gaps and crossing entrances that physical fencing cannot easily address.

Q10: How long does the collar battery last on the PawGuard™ F600?

Battery life varies depending on the receiver model and usage conditions. Under test conditions involving three activations per day at level 5 correction intensity, the large receiver can operate continuously for up to 72 hours, while the small receiver can operate for up to 21 hours. Both receiver models require approximately 1.5–2 hours for a full charge. For safe and reliable charging, use the original Type-C charging cable supplied with the system together with a 5V 1A or 5V 2A charging adapter.

A great product that has turned things around between my anxious dog meeting other dogs. Delighted with the product. I had to go to youtube to learn how to zinc the remote with the collar. I just wish the collar itself had of been lighter and not so bulky, it works and I am delighted with it.
