Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q1: Does the PawGuard™ F830 require any installation or digging?
No. The PawGuard™ F830 Wireless Dog Fence requires no wiring, digging, or complicated installation. Simply charge the collar using the included Type-C charging cable, set your preferred boundary (approximately 23–914 metres) and correction mode, then begin training your dog. Unlike the F820, the F830 features both Automatic Mode and Fixed Mode. Fixed Mode allows you to save your preferred settings, so you don't need to set them up repeatedly. The collar also includes automatic centre-point memory and an IPX7 waterproof rating for reliable outdoor use.
Q2: Can I adjust the size of the circular boundary?
Yes. The PawGuard™ F830 allows you to set a circular GPS boundary radius from approximately **23 to 914 metres** using the collar's controls. Whether you have a small garden or a large property, the boundary can be adjusted to suit your space without the need for wires or installation. The F830 also supports both **Automatic Mode and Fixed Mode** for added convenience.
Q3: Will the F830 work if my property is not circular in shape?
The PawGuard™ F830 creates a circular boundary, which works best for square or roughly circular gardens. If your property is long, narrow, or irregularly shaped, the circular boundary may not perfectly match your perimeter. In such cases, PawGuard™ recommends considering the F600 In-Ground System or the 860 GPS Fence with App, which supports custom boundary shapes.
Q4: What happens if my dog crosses the boundary during play?
If your dog crosses the boundary, the PawGuard™ F830 will activate the selected correction (beep, vibration, or static) to encourage them to return to the safe area. The system works when a sufficient GPS signal is available and the dog is moving. The screen will also light up to alert the owner when a boundary crossing occurs. GPS accuracy may vary slightly depending on environmental conditions and signal strength.
Q5: Can I take the F830 with me when I travel?
Yes! The PawGuard™ F830 is fully portable and can be used wherever a reliable GPS signal is available. Simply bring the collar with you, set a new boundary at your destination, and you're ready to go. This makes the F830 an excellent choice for dog owners who travel regularly with their pets.
Q6: Is the F830 safe for my children to be around?
No. The F830 should not be worn, handled, or played with by children. To prevent accidental activation, store the device safely out of reach of children when not in use.
Q7: Can I use the F830 with multiple dogs?
Each PawGuard™ F830 collar supports one dog. If you have multiple dogs, you will need one collar per dog. There is no separate transmitter, and each collar operates independently with its own GPS boundary settings.
Q8: Will interference from neighbouring properties or Wi-Fi affect the F830?
No. The PawGuard™ F830 uses GPS satellite positioning and does not rely on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or radio-frequency signals. This means nearby wireless devices typically do not affect its performance. In some densely built-up areas, GPS signal quality may vary slightly, but this is uncommon.
Q9: How long does it take to train my dog to the F830 boundary?
Most dogs learn to respect the PawGuard™ F830 boundary within 1–2 weeks when trained consistently. Short daily training sessions of 10–15 minutes are recommended, and many dogs begin responding reliably within 10–14 days.
